Idaho State University, Institute of Rural Health

As the state’s health sciences institute of higher learning, ISU is uniquely positioned to provide and facilitate education, service, and research opportunities across all goals of this project. The Institute of Rural Health (IRH) is a strong research unit within ISU, located in the Kasiska College of Health Professions. With strong collaborative relationships and longstanding cooperative ties, IRH faculty and staff have served as the frontline “field team” for the Hospital Discharge Model Grant, as well as for the prior and new Real Choices grants. The IRH works across multiple projects and agencies in Idaho. The IRH has established itself as the primary source of mental health and healthcare planning, research, and evaluation in the state of Idaho. Institutional capabilities and project team experience include the management of large, complex initiatives involving preventative programs for mental and behavioral health, medical care, disability issues, and delivery of services to unserved, underserved, disadvantaged, and minority populations. The IRH is well positioned to reach all areas of the state and population groups through collaborative tele-health and health information technology networks. The IRH has demonstrated through both current and past projects its experience in delivering programs across the spectrum of Idaho’s population.
